In the semi-final round of the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament the Frostburg State Men's Basketball team lost to Medaille 88-65. The Bobcats played well but failed to overcome an injury to point guard Nick Sefcik and foul trouble in the second half. This is the second consecutive year that the Bobcats fell to Medaille in the semi-finals of the AMCC tournament.

Going into the semi-final game against Medaille, the Bobcats had won seven of their last nine regular season games, and beat Mt. Alyosius in the first round of the playoffs. Because of bad weather following the first round win, the Bobcats only had one practice to prepare for the number one seed. Coach Webb Hatch summed up the loss, "The team played well in the first half, but we turned the ball over three or four straight possessions and our defense had some breakdowns during Medaille's 14-0 run. We lost our composure but give Medaille credit for being a good team and jumping on us when they saw an opportunity." Coach Hatch went onto say, "They are a competitive and well coached team and that's why they were the #1 seed and won the tournament."

Although the Bobcats failed to make the NCAA tournament, they had a successful year finishing fourth overall in the AMCC. The basketball team started the year off well winning five of their first six games. From then on, the Bobcats failed to string together a winning streak longer than two games until the end of season when they won seven of their last nine. For the second straight season, the Bobcats won 17 games and went 13-7 in the division. Bobcat Arena has really served the home team well; the Bobcats have a 25-8 record at home the last three seasons.

This year's basketball team saw the emergence of the team's junior class. Led by Brian Anderson, Busha Koffa, and Steven Ogg, the junior class was the core of the team. "Our current junior class has improved each season. We thought all of those guys had pretty good potential as freshmen. Having juniors and seniors in your program who improve over the course of their career is very important to building a winning program at any level," said Coach Hatch.

Koffa and Anderson were both named to the 2009-2010 All AMCC Team. This is the first nod for Koffa, who averaged 11.2 points a game and 6.8 rebounds, while Anderson made the All AMCC team for the second straight season. He averaged 13.1 points a game and was 6th in the conference with 3.3 assists.

This was the last year in the AMCC for the Bobcats who will enter the Capitol Athletic Conference in 2010-2011. The Capitol Conference is a more challenging conference that includes new opponents such as: Salisbury, Hood, and York. Coach Hatch is looking to add a post player and three-point shooter to the already well-rounded team, and has high expectations for the 2010-2011 season. With a veteran team and momentum on their side, the Bobcats are looking to carry their recent success into their new conference next year.
