Light skin is now considered more attractive than dark skin among some ethnic groups, and women bleach their skin to become lighter. This is dangerous for many different reasons, so now 'Black is Beautiful' is being used to embrace all shades of skin.
In the 1980s and 1990s bright, tacky makeup up was enticing and sexy. Today if you see someone wearing neon yellow eye shadow up to their brow bone, hot pink mascara, and blue eyeliner you may encourage them to wear sunglasses.
Not wearing makeup is perfectly acceptable today, even though when most women get into the groove of wearing makeup they feel naked without it. Though most of the time women look beautiful without it.
Women's magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Allure, Elle, and Vogue feature celebrities in almost all their issues. Guess what? Almost all the pictures that are voted attractive by readers or experts are the ones in which the woman is wearing very little makeup.
Magazines are constantly giving their readers tips to achieve beauty. Surprise! Surprise! Those tips hardly ever involve heavy eye shadow and caked on foundation.
When you have children in the future and they see pictures of you and your spouse in the college years, what will they say? Most likely they will say something like, "You were pretty, but what were you thinking? Pack on weight much? Where is your make up?"
Trends in fashion come and go, so I have reason to believe trends in beauty will too.
Save your college pictures so in forty years you can look back and laugh at the things you now think are beautiful.
