Now that it can be show motorcycles are indeed more dangerous than automobiles lets consider why.

Motorcyclists sometimes refer to car drivers as cagers due to the cage that surrounds them. While everyone is a cager in the winter, this does add a good amount of protection when in a crash. And while it might seem like you get cut off from time to time, try riding a motorcycle simply to the pumps without it happening, it is virtually impossible. Motorcycles are simply invisible on the road, thus riders travel defensively not by choice but for survival on the roads. But to lessen the hospital time in the event of a simple crash protective gear can and should be worn.

One of the best expressions I have heard about riding motorcycles is that if you were to ride completely naked, you would be the safest rider in the world. The idea is you would not take any risks to cause injury if traction were to be lost and you fell off the bike. So while you might get pulled over and given a ticket for indecent exposure, at least it would not be for a speeding ticket.

And as the title suggests, I live for danger and therefore ride a motorcycle. This might be true up until a few weeks ago when I may or many not have wrecked my motorcycle on some gravel in the road going at speed at the end of a turn in the mountain roads near the savage dam on a thursday just after classes. If this were to have happened, my full riding gear did, I mean would have saved my skin from road rash.

So, knowing first hand yet again how dangerous motorcycles can be in just a moments time, I will be right back riding the mountain roads just as soon as the spring comes around, dangerous or not. It is the excitement that makes it worth any odds. Besides, motorcycles are still for sale and that must mean it is safe enough to ride. Ride safe!
