Days Difference released their self titled album on Universal Motown Records this past week. This album is sure to be a milestone for this pop band hailing from Virginia. Jeremy Smith (Lead Vocals and Piano), Jonathan Smith (Vocals and Drums), Jeremiah Ricks (Vocals and Guitar), and Micah Ricks (Bass) have come a long way since the bands start in 2004.
Days Difference have opened for artists such as Paramore, Lifehouse, Third Eye Blind, Jack's Mannequin, All Time Low and Yellowcard.
For this album they enlisted the help of several big name producers such as Wayne Wilkins who has worked with Beyonce and Natasha Bedingfield, Andrew Frampton who has also worked with Natasha Bedingfield along with Kylie Minogue and Stefanie Ridel Fair who has worked with Fergie, Pussycat Dolls.
This album is not too far from their independent release of Numbers back in 2007. So what has changed? The quality of the songs has changed--it is clear from the opening song "Are You Happy" that Days Difference really took the time to make a solid album. Jeremy sings the intro "You got a boyfriend, I got a girlfriend. I keep on wondering are you happy?" followed by music that is nothing short of a dance party. Other stand out songs on the album are "Radio Song," "Falling Into You" and Speakers.
Lyrically this album is some of Days Difference's best and although simple, the songs easily connect with the listener. This is an album to play whether you want to dance or sing along to the heartfelt ballad "Imperfections."
What sets Days Difference apart from other generic boy bands is their interaction with fans. Whether its their updates on Twitter, their Youtube video antics, or their weekly live chats on Stickam, Days Difference is always making an effort to put themselves out there.
What is next for the boys of Days Difference? They will be touring this fall, you can even catch them this Sunday the 18th at Ram's Head in Annapolis Maryland.
