Almost seven years ago, a student in a directed study class decided to come up with a project that would promote and produce area musicians in CD format and concert form. He took one year to go through submissions, record and edit, compile an album, and put together a concert. This idea was so well thought out that it was later formulated into a class offered only in the spring called Music Promotion and Production (MCOMM 435).

The main reason for the class is the album and concert, but it's not as easy as it looks. The students go through the nitty-gritty details such as the inserts in the album, the label on the CD, the editing of the recordings, and the organization of the musicians. Which sounds like a lot of fun for a class!

This year, the submission date for in need of recording was March 31. Any musicians with original work that have recordings already done can submit by April 14. The concert is set to be May 1 at Eagle's on Main Street. The concert will not consist of all of the musicians on the CD (which will be sold at and after the show) mainly because of time and organization. This is a great opportunity for many students on campus to showcase their talent, and maybe later become discovered? Who knows?
