Throughout this semester, FSU students may have noticed a group of students distributing pamphlets and informative brochures regarding the wellbeing of animals. These passionate students have linked together to form the newly founded organization "Students Against the Irresponsible Treatment of Animals". This organization, led by Janelle L. Farabaugh, president of S.A.I.T.A, has made it their mission to raise one's awareness about animal life; specifically animal cruelty, animal neglect and other forms of animal maltreatment.

Disregarding one's person bias towards the treatment and care of animals, it is an indisputable truth that animal awareness and care is devoid of the human touch of tender, love, and care. This is evident in the events of animal hunting, dog fighting, clothing material, and even psychological experimentation. Though animal cruelty is justified via the explanation of human intellectual enhancement, the fact remains that animals are denied their rights of pain, feeling and opportunity.
Unfortunately, animal rights and animal welfare is not viewed as a vessel of necessity to the average people. Animals are merely viewed as a family pet, and a source of home security. Their needs and their health are bypassed; thus animals are dying everyday.

To some, the welfare of animals is a useless and hollow conversation. But to others, animals matter. This is the mindset of Frostburg's organization "Students Against the Irresponsible Treatment of Animals". Along with raising awareness of animal abuse, S.A.I.T.A has committed themselves to promoting awareness of endangered animals in order to prevent species from facing extinction.

Evidently, S.A.I.T.A has made a full pledge to fight the ongoing war of animal hatred. As stated in their constitution, this organization has vowed to "form fundraisers for the welfare of animals, volunteer at area shelters, and have focused discussions about how [they] can help animals not only within the Frostburg community, but also internationally."
This mission of S.A.I.T.A may seem repetitious, but the main vision of this organization is to help animals; Nothing more, nothing less. Janelle Farabaugh simply aspired to establish an organization that focuses on volunteerism and animal consciousness. She, along with the members aim to do so much with and for the animals rather than protest the ill treatment of animals.

S.A.I.T.A is an organization that has various plans set in motion to help raise money, and awareness for animals, yet they can't accomplish this task alone. In order for this vision to come to pass, each member and each person must participate in this movement. Whether it is a financial donation, a cloth, a towel, a rag-anything helps.

Help assist S.A.I.T.A in this mission to raise awareness for the welfare of the animal population!
